Glass Blowing Blues
Cats: Blowing|Evening chaps, chapesses.
OK, so I made two huge colored pieces last Saturday and I’m sorta stir-crazy right now — don’t quote that — and can’t wait to see if they annealed all right.
One was a solid white underlay with transparent bright fire-engine red over the top. It looked like a koi fish — a great big Japanese goldfish for all of you who don’t know what the heck koi fish are.
The other one was a solid white underlay with a grayish sea-blue on top. that one was bigger and was less regular in shape. The colors probably looked like a fish but I can’t think of which one.
I don’t really know what to expect. The white colors are super stiff while the blue and red hues are fairly fluid in composition. That much opposite stress in a piece in an annealing oven could result in fractures. I think I’m becoming too emotionally attatched to these pieces. Might cry my eyes out and eat a whole load of cookie dough if they break…
Ha ha. I had u all goin’.

I love colored glass! It is funny that when I look in the microscope for viruses that are highlighted with fluorescence, I tend to think of koi because the test cells stain red. ok, this isn’t really a glass related comment. ;)
